In the book of Haggai, we find God's people once again, disobeying God's commands. This time around it was the command to rebuild the temple. However, the real problem was not the temple being rebuilt. The real problem was was that the people of God became so engaged and distracted by THEIR kingdom that they lost sight of what was more valuable. What God ultimately desires is a heart that is surrendered to Him. The competition for our heart is our stuff, our desires, our plans, our ambitions, our goals, and our pursuits. They were favoring THEIR own house over His and that is exactly what we do today. We favor us over God. Prioritize God right now with your time, talents, money, etc. He desires a people who will love Him selflessly and sacrificially.
