What Are You Afraid Of?
The back and forth conversation between Job and his "friends" takes up much of this book. What we can take away from this dialogue is that Job is going through so much pain and agony that he wishes he had not even been born. For Job, he is experiencing the things in this life that are worse than death and his friends are not helping the situation. They continuously and relentlessly go at him and tell him that he is no good and must have done something wrong to deserve what he is going through. However, our primary takeaways from these conversations can help us understand that God's ways are not our ways, poor theology creates poor friendships, we need to speak truth in love to others, and that, above all, God is just. Our life stories may have some unattractive twists and turns but because of the goodness, faithfulness, and grace of God...our story does not end in death. It is going to include death, but it is not going to end there. Jesus tells us if you will believe then you will experience the glory of God.
