Be So For Real

The prophets were designed to be a "wall", a defense for Israel. Not a defense against outside attack but against inside corruption. The idea was that a prophet warns the nation and they repent (change direction), thus protecting them and defending them from the internal and external destruction of sin. In Ezekiel 13, God tells Ezekiel that the false prophets have become a wall without mortar. He says that they are a whitewashed wall and He uses this analogy to describe the situation. When bricks are just stacked together it is easy to see that there is no mortar. This wall is not a defense because there is no strength. So, in order to fool those who might be inclined to trust the wall (false prophets), they disguise it. They cover up its obvious lack of strength and deceive the people. Today, God calls us to be real and not fake, to be strong and not weak, and to be the wall of defense that out society desperately needs. To take a hard stand and say no to the sin within ourselves and then to the sin that surrounds us. So, the call today is to rise up, get the sin out of your life, start helping others, and "be so for real".
