The Weight of Grief & The Weight of Glory

There are so many passages in Scripture where we can hear the testimonies of God's goodness, provision of strength, and comfort. These help us find our bearings on the character of God - His Holiness, Sovereignty, kindness, grace, mercy, His heart for us as His children - so that we can be drawn in by His fatherly love. We can see the ways that He is not a distant, impersonal God but became a suffering Sovereign who meets us where we are and sympathizes with us. We need the foundation of Scripture so that we can believe and trust His promises. Especially in the times we doubt or when the reality we are dealing with in the moment tempts us to abandon. We must make sure that these moments draw us closer to God and not away from Him. They should help us gain an understanding of Him that causes greater devotion, worship, and passion for His glory.
