Be Still and Know

When it comes to the ten commandments, the one that is most often ignored is the Sabbath. The command is to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. The Sabbath is more than just going to church for a few hours, eating lunch, falling asleep, watching sports, and just generally doing whatever we want since we don't have to go to work. God intended the Sabbath to be a day that brings Him glory through our keeping it and the benefits for us that naturally flow out of time spent with God. We must commit to honoring the Sabbath as a day devoted to worshiping God because of His greatness and all that He has done. We can put into practice sacrificing our selfish desires in order to pursue what is of greater value, to lean in and remember that God is our sustainer, provider, and protector, and to realign our life's mission with God as He is working in this world.
