The Problem

Man only has one problem and that problem is sin. Sin, at its core, is the rejection of God. We typically define sin as the "bad stuff" that we do but if in doing those bad things we are rejecting God's authority or influence over us then we are submitting to some other influence. The book of Jeremiah is primarily addressing this issue of the rejection of God within the nation of Israel. When this happens we can either confess and repent or we can continue in our sinful behavior and face the consuming rage of Holy God who through our sin we have actively rejected. And the reality of this is that God does not owe us another opportunity to repent. The love and grace of God should motivate us enough to repent but the truth is that God's grace is not something that we can presume upon. So today, while it is still today, if you hear the voice of God do not harden your heart. Confess and repent that you might receive grace for your sins.
