The Tabernacle

The subject of the tabernacle is found in over fifty chapters of the Bible. We read about about it and then we read about it again, all with much detail. Sometimes, we tend to gloss over these readings because we feel that it doesn't apply to us anymore. Besides, the Holy Spirit of God dwells inside of believers now rather than in a tabernacle or temple. What we have now is better because of what Jesus did on the cross. So why do we have so much detail about the tabernacle? Part of the answer to this is because of how the constructing of the tabernacle brought God's people together in unity and made them excited. They were excited by the opportunity to have God dwell with them and they were excited to produce something that would bring Him glory. This excitement moved them to work and give of their time, talents, and treasure freely. They had no regrets in giving and sacrificing things that were of great value to them. The same should be for us today within our churches and within the world around us. We, the people of God, should say yes to sacrifice because it changes things for the good and it honors God.
