The Passover

Yeast or leaven is consistently utilized in the Bible as a picture of sin. In Exodus, after God saved the Israelites, He freed them from their bondage. His expectation for us is that we get rid of the leaven (sin) in our lives. We cannot ignore the filth within us and expect to have a close relationship with God. So what do we do? We confess it and God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We need to do our best to stay clean in order to stay close to Him. We are saved and secure by God's grace but we will experience God more intimately as we get rid of the leaven.
