A Rebellious Heart

We tend to get sidetracked when reading Numbers, especially in the opening 10 chapters. In the first few chapters it tends to feel like a whole lot of information that we do not need. However, once we get past the first 10 chapters of this book, it picks back up on the narrative of Exodus and we quickly learn that this generation of Israelites' lives are going to be spent in the desert (wilderness) both physically and spiritually. The problem that they are facing is that they have a disobedient or rebellious heart. In the book of Numbers, God has given us a guide to help take inventory of our heart. There are three different symptoms that we see associated with a rebellious heart. They are a complaining attitude, a gossiping spirit, and a defiant nature. Are you struggling with any of these symptoms? If so, you need to examine yourself and start choosing the path to the promised land of a blessed life that God has offered you, instead of the path to a relational and spiritual desert.
