O the Blood

The "old saying" of an "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" can actually be found in the Bible in the book of Leviticus and then again in Deuteronomy. We now have a tendency to say that those ways were just the Old Testament ways and that we are now in the age of grace. However, we have to understand that these laws were and are a product of God and God is just. He demands justice. You cannot take a cow and offer as restitution for a goat because they are not equal. Sin entered into this world because of Adam and sin equals death. One man spread death to everyone because all have sinned. (Romans 5:12) Therefore, the restitution for sin had to be life. That life was through the shedding of the blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave His life for all.
