The Need for Holiness

Practical Holiness is not necessary for Salvation. In fact, we would argue that one cannot begin the process of pursuing practical holiness until they are saved and have the spirit of God working in them. So, does this mean that we can be admitted entrance into heaven apart from any real effort to please God? In theory, yes, but this is the theory that James and Paul both spoke much about. Romans 6:1-2 says, "Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?" (NIV) With that being said, Holiness is required for four important aspects of a Christian life. Holiness is required for fellowship with God, for our own personal well being, for effective service to God, and for assurance of Salvation.
