The Unsung Hero

As we close out the book of 1 Samuel, we encounter many aspects of God. We see that God's Word is true, God's Grace is amazing, we see justice, and then we see the death of someone who is not often talked about. Jonathan, son of Saul, was a husband, father, faithful son, champion warrior, and the standard of what a friend should look like. He was a selfless servant in God's kingdom and he was obedient to his father even unto death just as Christ was. Jesus however, didn't just die as Jonathan did, He died in our place. Most importantly, Jesus' story contained tragedy just like Jonathan's but Jesus' ended in triumph that brings us life through Him.
