He is the Bread of Presence
1 Samuel 21 coincides with many of the Psalms that David wrote. This chapter in Samuel is also where we find the story of David eating the consecrated bread which became known as the bread of presence. Throughout many of the Psalms that David wrote, we find an overarching theme that tells us that the presence of God can be traced through His provisions. We have all had moments in our lives where things worked out that never should have, where we were spared some sort of injury, and where God protected us even though we were the problem. These moments where God provided are the evidence of His presence. The bread of presence is not amazing because of God's provision of bread. It's amazing because God provided Himself through Jesus. All of the provisions are just reminders that God is present.
